The Activator Method Chiropractic Technique (AMCT) is a system of spinal assessment and treatment that uses a small, handheld spring-loaded instrument to deliver a precise, low-force impulse to specific joints in the spine and extremities.
Rather than the manual high-velocity thrust used in a traditional Chiropractic Adjustment, the Activator delivers a controlled, rapid impulse that is gentler in overall force but fast enough to be clinically effective.
According to the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners, it is the second most commonly used chiropractic technique in the world, behind only the Diversified technique.
HOW IT WORKS?
The Activator fires its impulse in a single, extremely fast motion. That speed is the key to why it works.
When a joint is manipulated manually, the body's muscles can brace in anticipation. That resistance sometimes limits how effective the adjustment can be.
The Activator moves faster than the body's natural protective reflex can respond. The impulse reaches the joint before the surrounding muscles have a chance to tighten against it.
The result is a precise, localized adjustment to the targeted joint without the spinal rotation or extension positions that some manual techniques require.
